Holistic Physiotherapy:
Hands-on Manual Therapy Exercise + Rehabilitation
What is Holistic Physiotherapy?
Holistic therapy encompasses approaches that consider the whole person rather than focusing on specific symptoms or illnesses that have been identified. It acknowledges the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit and aims to being these elements in to balance and restore an overall sense of well-being. It is primarily concerned with identifying the root cause of illness or injury and understand other factors that may have contributed to the onset or perpetuation of the presenting symptoms and include them in an integrated treatment approach.
This Holistic mindset is further applied in the context of hands-on Physiotherapy to produce what we call Holistic Manual Physiotherapy. This differs to other forms of Manual Therapy (such as Physiotherapy or Massage) because it looks further than muscles and joints, to incorporate assessment and treats other structures including fascia, ligaments, nerves, blood and lymphatic vessels and the brain and spinal cord. Whole body assessments are performed to look for the root causes as well as understand how the various symptoms and compensations relate to each other. A variety of manual therapy techniques are used to treat what is found and followed up with exercise and education.

How much Physio will I need?
It varies from person to person, but typically less often than conventional Physiotherapy due to the longer consult times and the focus on treatments targeting the root cause and producing lasting change. Exercise is essential to complement the hands-on component and is given in a variety of ways.
What type of exercise?
Various exercieses from a variety of backgrounds are given to clients in an individualised way. As Holistic practitioners we steer clear of “recepie” based approaches. Each practitioner has a different background and skillset and we work in different ways including;
- Sports injury and rehabilitation
- Neurological rehabilitation
- Clinical Pilates
- Yoga
